PULLING IT ALL TOGETHER

time required: 10 minutes
materials: journal, pen
Today is about synthesizing what you have accomplished and integrating your discoveries. You will reflect on what you have experienced through this process. It’s important to take survey of what has emerged, what you have gained, and what has stood out for you. Pull together or review what you have created on this journey. Incorporate what you discovered in making a mood board. Find the common threads of what has lit you up through this process. How has engaging in a daily creative practice made you feel? what have you discovered about yourself? In your journal, write down a list of what inspires you. Make a second list of what you have discovered through the process. The act of writing it down will further integrate them. As patterns and ideas emerge, key memories might be sparked, and self-discovery and enlightenment will emerge.

Practicing creativity builds new neural pathways. In the Huna tradition, they call this an “Aka Mana” pattern, a concept that has existed in Hawaii for over a thousand years. The “Aka” is a structure, like pipes in a plumbing system. Mana, which translates as “power,” is an energy that enlivens the Aka structure, like water that flows through the pipes. When you’re creating a thought, you are creating an Aka-Mana pattern that holds particular types of Mana or energy. Every time you respond to something by cycling energy through the Aka-Mana pattern, you increase the force of that pattern. Over time, this way of cycling energy becomes more entrenched. Activating your creativity develops Aka Mana patterns that are generative and empowering by nature. By writing down your thoughts, you are integrating and reinforcing that power.
